MERCIA DOUGHTY PEDIATRIC CHILDREN’S ONCOLOGY WING VOLUNTARIADO DE JESÚS CON LOS NIÑOS, SANTIAGO, D.R

Since 2009, The Doughty Family Foundation has supported the non-profit organisation “Voluntariado Jesus Con Los Ninos” in the Dominican Republic which assists children and their families in Santiago DR.

With the aid of this support, the hospital has been able to build The Mercia Doughty Paediatric Oncology Centre which delivers specialist care and treatment for children who are both in and outpatients. Enabling parents to be with their children is crucial at this overwhelming time regardless of a family’s financial or healthcare resources.

In 2013, The Nigel Doughty Intensive care unit was introduced to the ward, extending special care for those patients with advanced stage 3 and 4 lymphomas.
